As the firm’s IT Manager, Greg has been front and center for two and a half decades of technological changes. “While you were out” messages have been replaced by a sophisticated voicemail system. Word Perfect is ancient history, as is Lotus 123. And AutoCAD? Release 11 had just been completed when Greg started at the firm (there have been 19 more since). So much has changed – like no more “CAD pound” – yet much has remained remarkably constant; namely Greg. He’s seen it all, done it all. From the firm’s use of BIM to cloud hosted Laser Scanning and Revit, Greg continues to help keep Dreyfuss + Blackford on the cutting edge.
Greg’s always been fascinated with machines. Tinkering with random appliances, musical instruments and cars at an early age, he was already enmeshed in the inner workings of machinery by the time computers came along. If he had known a billionaire or two, though, he would have likely traded IT to be a Formula 1 race car driver. Gorgeous and powerful cars racing through the quaint European cobblestone streets; what could beat that? Greg’s “need for speed” is still part of his life, but aside from the fastest computer, motorcycles are his machine of choice.
“What do I love about my job? I never get bored. It’s stressful sometimes but never boring. No two days in row are the same.”
