Work is underway to develop a consolidated College of Engineering and Computer Science on the California State University, Sacramento campus. The preliminary program called for a new expansion building to house overflow programs across the quad from the existing engineering building. Continued dialogue with the Engineering faculty found that collegial interaction would be lost by housing staff in separate buildings. An alternate approach consolidating all engineering disciplines in a single facility was greeted with enthusiasm by both staff and campus administration.
This facility will feature dedicated lab spaces, a Class 1000 clean room, flexible computing labs, student project and shop spaces, and faculty and administration support offices. The building is designed with many innovative and sustainable design strategies, to make this the most forward-thinking structure on the campus.
