Thirteen Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Post-Partum (LDRP) rooms were part of the Kaiser South Sacramento hospital expansion and renovation. We developed a unique design solution for these patient-procedure rooms. Based on the philosophy that a comfortable environment contributes to the well being of the mother during birthing, these rooms were designed to resemble a bedroom in a home. All of the medical equipment is hidden behind enclosed alcoves and cabinets. Once in activation mode, the room can be turned into a procedures room within moments providing the mother with a comfortable birthing experience and the hospital the ability to deliver emergency medical procedures within the same space.
