Overview
It is a given fact that service call centers are high-key, high-stress work places. We set out to counter-balance these characteristics in the new Regional Call Center for Kaiser Permanente. We designed a flexible facility where staff population can ebb and flow according to patient demand. Up to 450 call takers can be on duty at one time, primarily licensed nurses and professional staff. To counter the high stress of telephone work, we provided generous break amenities, direct outdoor landscaping views, bright colors and abundant natural light. The project was completed on time, within budget, and was very well received by all Kaiser staff. It has also been recognized with a Citation Award for Interior Architecture from the AIA Central Valley.
