When Gabe met Chad and was introduced to Dreyfuss + Blackford, he saw the future…the future of technology and architecture, that is. He always knew he wanted to be an architect and early on recognized the power of computers and software. But it all came together when Gabe had the tools in hand and realized how much more he could do. Gabe has since shared that enthusiasm and BIM skill on projects like SMUD Headquarters Renovation and Expansion and the Placer County Animal Services Center.
Long before he had access to BIM or even a computer for that matter, Gabe loved to build. He would spend hours on end taking things apart and putting them back together. He and his brother even built a city on their small farm in Mexico. It was a sight to behold until the animals got to it. The cows trampled through and left the city in ruins. Darn cows.
“I love the process of designing. It’s exciting. It’s challenging, too, because sometimes things don’t work the way you thought they would. When they do, though, it’s a great moment. You can say ‘YES! I made that’.”
