Solano County Master Plan for Three Campuses

The County of Solano is growing at an accelerated rate as a result of its proximity to the Bay Area. The demand of County services has increased and the County hired the team led by Dreyfuss + Blackford Architecture to develop a long-range 20-year master plan for future growth County-wide. This work includes the County’s three campuses: Downtown Fairfield, Solano Business Park, and Claybank.

The County facilities on the three different campuses were assessed, and future growth needs were projected based on interviews with departmental leadership. Existing traffic flow, civil infrastructure, and landscape palettes were also studied. The planning team used its experience with other Counties nationally to make benchmark comparisons of space needs. Based on these factors and stakeholder workshops, the planning team developed a County-wide master plan that identified improvements recommended to be implemented over the next 20 years, along with a phasing and Capital Outlay Plan.
