Company Structure
Dreyfuss & Blackford Architects is a mid-size firm of nearly 30 people. This is by design; the firm has remained steady at 20 to 30 people for over 20 years. This is an ideal size for a design firm, large enough to produce significant projects ($50 million or more), flexible enough to produce thoughtful small-scale projects, and small enough for oversight by a single managing principal. (Many large multinational firms divide their staff into "studios" of 20 to 30.) This is a non-hierarchical, "flat" organization where the project manager has great autonomy. There is no ceiling—innovation, skill and ability are recognized and rewarded. We attract the best and brightest professionals in the business, and we tend to keep them.
