John C. Webre

AIA
President / Managing Principal

John has always been enormously curious; an explorer with a deep hankering to understand the “why” behind things. He also loves painting, an exercise which enables him to see things from a unique perspective. Combine this innate curiosity with John’s visual sensibility and architecture was a natural fit.

With a degree from Tulane, John opened a practice in Louisiana. He joined Dreyfuss + Blackford in the 80s and has had a hand in all of the firm’s projects since 1991 when Al Dreyfuss and Len Blackford turned over the reins. John has exceptional skills in project planning, design and management, leading multi-faceted design teams to success on countless projects including the current renovation and expansion of the landmark SMUD building; the award-winning CalPERS Lincoln Plaza Headquarters; the LEED Platinum CAISO Headquarters, the 2012 DBIA Project of the Year; and numerous projects for Sacramento State. John is committed to seeing the firm continue to thrive and passionate about empowering employees to be their best.

John’s passion also extends to community building. He dedicates much of his time away from work to the arts and the environment, believing both elevate our spirits and make us better people. It is in these two areas John hopes to make the greatest contribution by participating in organizations like the Sacramento Tree Foundation and the Sacramento Ballet.

“I recharge by traveling to foreign lands. The experiences stretch me and remind me there are many different ways to be.”
