Kylie puts her talents to use in a variety of ways at Dreyfuss + Blackford, assisting on everything from the Sacramento Municipal Utility District Headquarters Renovation and Expansion to Mohr Hall at Sacramento City College. She loves the diversity of the work and is not afraid to jump in head first. In her words, nobody expects her to know everything but everyone is willing to share everything. As such, Kylie is embracing the opportunity to learn and grow.
As early as Kindergarten, Kylie analyzed spaces. She’d imagine how to make her classrooms aesthetically appealing and function more effectively. Initially, Kylie thought this meant she’d be a teacher, but when she discovered there was a “real” job where she could design, plan and decorate, the thought of being called “Miss Kirk” was quickly abandoned.
“My daydreams involved ditching “primary colors” in the classroom; the tacky bulletin board borders had to go, too. If only I could move the library/reading area to the side of the room where the lighting is better…hmmm.”
