Growing up, Hieu’s family would take frequent trips to the city of Chicago and from these visits his appetite for architecture grew. Then when his family moved to Houston, Texas, Hieu was immersed in another large city with a huge architecture culture. From these experiences along with his Dad’s DYI mentality and encouragement, Hieu knew he wanted to become an architect once he got to high school. However, it wasn’t until he attended the University of Nevada Las Vegas that he discovered his passion for sustainability. Following this sustainable path, Hieu got his graduate degree at the University of Southern California with a focus on sustainable design. Besides sustainable design and having the power to affect the everyday built environment with his design decisions, Hieu’s other passion is cars.
“When I was little I wanted to be a racecar driver. I still pretend I am one when I go go-karting.”
