Architecture first became interesting to Marie in junior high. One day Marie’s classmate talked about his dad who was an architect and in that moment Marie was intrigued. She had always liked designing and drawing things as well. However, it wasn’t until her senior year of high school she finally made a decision to pursue architecture in college. Her parents thought it was a great idea and felt I.M. Pei should be her role model, as he appeared in the media frequently. Marie also believes her Dad played a role in her career. Growing up, her dad was really handy, from fixing cars to household plumbing. He always had projects going on around their house including building a bedroom for her brother. She believes watching her Dad likely helped her gravitate toward architecture.
Today, as a seasoned Architect with 22 years of experience in the industry, Marie is passionate about creating inviting spaces for clients because ultimately that’s what will hold the lasting impression with them.
“What was my first job? My first job in the industry was for Lemeau & Llana in Greenwich Village, New York City. I worked for Llana as the two sisters had decided to part ways. It was a colorful place to work as there were bolts of all sorts of fabric throughout the shop.”
