Architecture may be a far cry from Mike’s first job making Chinese pastries and dim sum in his family’s restaurant, but it would seem it was part of the plan all along…he just didn’t know it. Mike remembers a delivery to an architecture office. He thought, “how cool would it be to work at a place like this”. As it turns out, pretty cool.
Mike has always enjoyed building models and looking at houses but only started thinking seriously about architecture in high school. Despite a circuitous route as an applied physics major in college, he graduated with an architecture degree and made a career of it. Mike brings quiet, careful deliberation to his work, leading to very thorough and accurate documents. He has a clear grasp of complex design and coordination issue like those faced on the San Joaquin Regional Transit District (SJRTD) Regional Transportation Center and the California ISO Headquarters.
“My favorite part of my job? Seeing a project get built. It is immensely satisfying to take a project from sketches and renderings to a set of construction drawings and then finally to a completed building.”
