Sacramento State Sports Complex Signage

Dreyfuss + Blackford was asked to participate in an exploratory design competition to provide a new and unifying identity for the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex on the Sacramento State campus. The goal was to design an entry monument with coordinating entry gates to unify a complex that consisted of mostly open fields and grandstands.

After careful research, we developed a range of monumental and incremental signage elements to meet the widely varied requirements. The University enthusiastically embraced our concepts and quickly implemented our signage program.

The monument signage utilizes stainless steel mesh stretched over a structural steel frame. It is illuminated at night to provide a glowing beacon for wayfinding.
