El Dorado County has had a chronic shortage of adequate courtroom space for more than a decade in their existing historic courthouse (pictured) on Main Street and several other separate buildings in Placerville, California.
When the California Administrative Office of the Courts took over court operations in 2005, El Dorado County’s need was categorized as critical. We were selected from 43 architectural firms to design a new consolidated courthouse for the County. Preliminary studies were done for a site immediately next to the County jail on Forni Road.
The new courthouse will contain six courtrooms and supporting administrative space, as well as provisions for two additional future courtrooms.
To date we have completed a master plan, site selection, necessary environmental documentation and programming for the new facility.
